Eversource: We're Ready for Frigid Weekend Temperatures
Are you? Here are some tips to stay warm and safe during this bitter cold weekend.

MANCHESTER, NH - With sub-zero temperatures and dangerous wind chills expected this weekend in New Hampshire, Eversource is carefully monitoring its electric system, and is ready to respond to any problems that may arise, according to a press statement by the company.
The company schedules crews to work all shifts, so employees are available to assist customers 24/7.
“Extreme cold can put a strain on the equipment that delivers electricity to customers, so we’ll be keeping a particularly close eye on it this weekend,” said Joe Purington, vice president of Electric Operations at Eversource. “Over the past several years, we have made significant upgrades to the electric system so it can better withstand these extreme weather conditions.”

In addition to Eversource keeping a watchful eye on its system, the region’s grid operator, ISO-New England, has issued a cold weather watch. While conditions are expected to be extreme in the next two days, the ISO forecasts there is sufficient supply to meet electric demands.
Here are some safety tips Eversource shares with its employees that customers may also find helpful during the frigid weather:

- Wear wool or polyester blends that insulate and also allow sweat to evaporate.
- Protect your feet, hands, head and face. These parts of the body are the hardest to keep warm. Almost half of your body heat can be lost through your head, so it’s important to cover it up.
- Listen to your body. If you become fatigued while working outside in the cold, your body loses its ability to retain heat, causing rapid cooling leading to hypothermia or frostbite.
- Take breaks and drink plenty of fluids so you don’t become dehydrated.
If a customer’s power goes out, they should report the outage by contacting Eversource at 1-800-662-7764, or on Eversource.com.
