Granite State Students Graduate From Colleges: Education Roundup
Plus, dean's lists and other announcements from residents of Amherst, Bow, Concord, Loudon, Milford, and Nashua.
Benjamin John Irwin, of Nashua, was honored at Assumption College with the prestigious Crown and Shield Award. The Award recognizes students who have distinguished themselves throughout their tenure at the College in the areas of leadership and community service. Award recipients have protected (shield) and furthered (crown) the interests of the student body and Assumption as a whole. Crown and Shield recipients are nominated by faculty, staff and administration for their exemplary service and leadership. Irwin graduated with a major in Psychology, concentration in Physical Therapy, and a minor in Biology. Benjamin's involvement on campus varied as he participated in SEND trips to Houston Texas, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Irwin was also an Orientation Leader and Executive, a COMPASS facilitator, an Admissions summer Ambassador for EduBoston, an Executive member of Active Minds Club, a part of the Campus Ministry Student Leader Association, Senior Retreat Leader, and a Peer minister for two years. Benjamin also served as an RA for two years, and was SGA Senator for two years. Benjamin is thankful for the opportunities he had to "step outside his more comfortable space" at Assumption. A nominator described Ben as a "shining example of the best that Assumption College has to offer. He truly embraces his faith, and understands the importance of serving others ... Ben is able to do more than overlook differences; he embraces them, and does so with enthusiasm." After graduation, Benjamin will attend Bay State College in Boston to become a Physical Therapy Assistant.
Colby-Sawyer College has named Zoe Daudier of Milford to the Dean's List for spring 2019. Daudier is a public health major and a member of the class of 2021. To qualify for the Dean's List students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours in graded courses.
Xuemeng Cao, a freshman elementary education major from Concord, was among more than 800 Bob Jones University students named to the Spring 2019 Dean's List. The Dean's List recognizes students who earn a 3.00-3.74 grade point average during the semester.

The State University of New York at Potsdam recognized nearly 900 candidates for graduation during the College's 2019 Commencement Ceremony on May 18, including Selena Baillargeon of Concord, who graduated cum laude from SUNY Potsdam with a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health.
Meegan Ann McCarthy of Loudon, has been named to the Dean's List at Greensboro College for the Spring 2019 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, a student must have a 3.5 grade-point average or better for the semester while having taken at least half of her course credit hours at Greensboro College's main campus.

David Cummings from Bow, earned a Master of Science in sports management from Coastal Carolina University.
Brady McNish, a resident of Concord, has been named to the Emerson College Dean's List for the Spring 2019 semester. McNish is majoring in Media Arts Production and is a member of the Class of 2019. The requirement to make Emerson's Dean's List is a grade point average of 3.7 or higher.
James K. O'Brien, of Amherst, was one of 462 seniors who graduated from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, on May 26, receiving a bachelor of arts degree at the College's 198th Commencement. Award-winning television writer David E. Kelley was the guest speaker. O'Brien, who majored in physics, attended Derryfield School and is the son of Edward and Andrea O'Brien of Amherst.
Congratulations to Amanda Wedel of Nashua, for being named to the Spring 2019 Dean's List at The College of Saint Rose. Full-time undergraduate students who complete a minimum of 12 graded credit hours, and who achieve a semester average of 3.5 with no D, F, or Incomplete grade, are eligible for the Dean's List.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) President Laurie Leshin and Board of Trustees Chairman Jack Mollen presided over the university's 151st Commencement celebration, awarding more than 850 master's and doctoral degrees at the Graduate Ceremony, held on the campus Quadrangle.
- Juliana Dube of Nashua, was awarded a master of business administration degree.
- Anna Wildman of Nashua, was awarded a master of engineering degree in electrical and computer engineering.
- Mitchell Tilbury of Nashua, was awarded a master of science degree in systems engineering.
- Michael Torchio of Nashua, was awarded a master of science degree in systems engineering.
Tufts University recently announced the dean's list for the Spring 2019 semester. Among students earning dean's list honors were:
- Courtney DiFilippo (senior), of Concord
- Richard Rosato (sophomore), of Concord
Dean's list honors at Tufts University require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater.
Some 3,275 students were awarded degrees during the University of Vermont's 218th commencement ceremonies. Darren Walker who presides over the Ford Foundation, one of the world's most influential social justice philanthropies and one of the largest private foundations in the United States, delivered the address on May 19, at the University of Vermont.
- Kaley Ahern, of Amherst, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Movement Sciences during commencement ceremonies.
- Thomas Casper, of Amherst, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry during commencement ceremonies.
- Hannah Culver, of Amherst, graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience during commencement ceremonies.
- Wilson Ezequelle, of Amherst, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering during commencement ceremonies.
- Kathleen Foley, of Amherst, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics during commencement ceremonies.
- Hannah Lewis, of Amherst, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science during commencement ceremonies.
Lasell College honored the Class of 2019 at the institution's 165th Commencement ceremony on May 11. The ceremony took place on the College's Taylor Field and recognized a record number of graduate and undergraduate degree recipients. Connor Shirley of Concord graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Sport Management.
