Why are you seeking elective office?

To bring back civility, while re-establishing trust and respect between the school board, superintendent's office and school personnel.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The board needs to regain the trust of the residents as we all work together towards providing our children a wonderful and rewarding educational experience.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I will not blindly support the superintendent's plans for budget or educational programs without valuable input from the experienced professional Milford teaching staff.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)

I have serious issues with the way this board conducts its business behind closed doors without ever soliciting the opinion or views of the residents or teaching personnel. Case in point; they hired the current superintendent without ever providing the residents of Milford a choice. They did nothing last year to resolve the issues the Milford Teacher's Union had with the superintendent resulting in the lost of many of the schools' leadership team and a vote of "No Confidence" by the teachers in her leadership ability. They recently gave in mid-contract, the same superintendent a 20 months severance packet if she is dismissed without cause.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform

I would like to address the serious bullying issue residents have expressed during school board meetings.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have 24 years of experience as a teacher and understand how important it is for the school board to have open communications with teachers so that they can express their opinions based on research and experience.

The best advice ever shared with me was …

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I am not only a teacher, but also a father of a student in the Milford School District. I spent over 12 years in the Marine and understand the value of working as a team, and that seems to be the problem. Right now there are three separate groups, school board and superintendent, school personnel and residents all interested in what is best for our children, but not working together to achieve that goal.
