A Love Letter To Chris

"I am beyond amazed to know that I have truly found the love of my life."

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we asked Patch readers to write a love letter to that special someone and let us deliver it. This is Kelley Guitard’s love story about her fiancé, Chris:

“I met my fiancé Chris one-and-a-half years ago. We started to text which led to talking on the phone pretty much non stop. We are both in our late 30s, have both been married and divorced twice and both have two kids. He has two boys and I have two girls. He is a very dedicated master plumber and firefighter, and I am a stay-at-home mom. We started dating in October 2016. I have had multiple health issues and he has been amazing right from the start.

In November of 2016 I had my first heart attack, which was after dating for only one month. I was in the hospital for a week and kept telling myself that after all this he would not stay. I was wrong. He was very supportive and wanted to help and take care of me in any way possible. A month later I had another heart attack. This time I was at my fiancé’s house, and I had to be taken to a bigger hospital. This was a very scary time with so many unanswered questions as to why this was happening to me. I was only 37 years old and even the doctors were in shock.

Again I thought my fiancé would leave, with so much drama in such a short time. I was wrong. He told me he loved me and my kids and that he would always be there for us. After many tests I found out I had Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD). I had an artery dissect that caused the heart attack. Then with more testing found out I also have Fibromuscular Dysplasia (FMD), which is the main cause of all my issues. I am still in the testing and finding out more information of all this.

At this point we have moved in together along with my daughters, and Chris has been a very big support for all of us. He is there for every doctor appointment and there for me and my daughters in every way possible. I went from thinking that this amazing man I met would walk away from all these life-changing events when we first started dating to now knowing how much he really cares and wants to get married and be there forever for myself and our kids.

I am beyond amazed to know that I have truly found the love of my life and this Valentine’s Day will truly be one to thank him for everything he has done for us and all the love he has shown.”
