A Milford graduate has joined the ranks of the finest young athletes as the 2013 Gatorade Female High School Athlete of the Year.
Morgan Andrews received the honor at the 11th annual Gatorade High School Athlete of the Year awards Tuesday night. The Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year joined Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year Andrew Wiggins in receiving this honor.
Andrews graduated from Milford High School this year and has been recruited by Notre Dame.

According to Gatorade, Wiggins and Andrews received their awards at a dinner emceed by ESPN's Stuart Scott and attended by Paul George (Indiana Pacers All-Star Forward), Philip Rivers (San Diego Chargers Quarterback), Abby Wambach (Two-time Olympic gold medalist and 1997-98 Gatorade New York Girls Soccer Player of the Year), Bryshon Nellum (2012 Olympian and 2006-07 Gatorade National Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year) and Misty-May Treanor (three-time Olympic gold medalist).
Andrews has been named player of the year multiple times by Gatorade, and brings many other achievements to back her title. Andrews was named 2012 National Soccer Coaches Association of America High School Player of the Year, a three-time NSCAA All-American selection, captain of the Under-17 Women’s National Team and is a member of the Under-20 and Under-23 National Team player pools.

The Spartans also won their first Division II state title in soccer under Andrew’s leadership.
Not only that, but she started her own charity called “Kicks for Cans” and maintained a 3.13 GPA.
All Gatorade High School Athlete of the Year nominees will walk the ESPY red carpet and be featured as special guests during The ESPY Awards Show. The show will air live on ESP on Wednesday, July 17 at 9:00 p.m. ET.
