Milford Soccer Star Morgan Andrews Heading to Hollywood
The Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year will compete for the athlete of the year award.

Milford’s star soccer player is heading to Hollywood to compete against other athletes for on the national level
Morgan Andrews was named the Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year for the third time last month during a ceremony at Milford High School. Now she has her bags packed for the 11th annual Gatorade High School Athlete of the Year ceremony in Hollywood.
Andrews will then compete against other top prep athletes as a nominee for the 2012-13 Gatorade High School Athlete of the Year. This honor is given to the to the nation’s best overall male and female high school athletes.

The winners will be named at a dinner emceed by ESPN’s Stuart Scott on Tuesday, July 16, in Hollywood. Awards will be presented by Indiana Pacers All-Star Paul George and two-time gold medalist Abby Wambach (1997-98 Gatorade New York Girls Soccer Player of the Year).

As a nominee, she will also walk the Red Carpet prior to the ESPY Awards, broadcast on ESPN on Wednesday, July 16.
Since 1985, the Gatorade Player of the Year program has honored nearly 13,000 state and 258 national winners in a variety of sports. Many past national winners have gone on to become some of today’s top professional athletes, including Emmitt Smith, Peyton Manning, Lisa Leslie, Derek Jeter, Candace Parker, Kerri Walsh and Joe Mauer.
Andrews joins these top athletes with quite an impressive résumé in athletics, education and community service.
2012-13 Athletic Résumé:
- Became the ninth high school student-athlete in the award’s 28-year history to repeat as Gatorade National Player of the Year
- Scored 31 goals and passed for 18 assists while leading the Spartans to a 16-3-1 record and the Division II state title
- First repeat Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year
- 2012 National Soccer Coaches Association of America High School Player of the Year
- Rated No. 1 recruit in Class of 2013 by TopDrawerSoccer.com
- First three-time Gatorade New Hampshire Girls Soccer Player of the Year
Career Athletic Résumé:
- U.S. Soccer Under-20 Women’s National Team member
- U.S. Soccer Under-23 Women’s National Team player pool
- Captained U.S. Soccer Under-17 Women’s National Team to gold medal at the 2012 CONCACAF Championship
- Concluded prep career with 114 goals and 53 assists
- Two-time NSCAA High School All-American
- Four-time New Hampshire All-State First Team selection
Academic and Community Service Résumé:
- 3.17 GPA
- Founded Kicks for Cans charitable foundation, providing clinic training to area youth soccer players whose admission fee is a can of food, which is donated to the homeless
- Spearheaded collaboration with American Red Cross on “Holiday Cards for Heroes” campaign, coordinating mailing of more than 1,700 seasons greetings messages to troops deployed overseas
- Volunteer for Share Barn community outreach, providing clothing and moral support to area needy
