MILFORD, NH — Milford High School students competed with more than 2,000 high school students during Lockheed Martin's annual "Code Quest" competition. The competition encourages students in New England to explore careers in coding, software, and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The students compete to solve quests created by the company's engineers and computer programmers who also mentor the students during the process. The company has been hosting the Code Quest competition since 2012.

In Stratford, Connecticut, earlier this year, 28 teams competed locally in the advanced category to apply for a summer internship at Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company. The students also received a tour of a helicopter manufacturing facility and took advantage of a flight simulation game.

In the competition, the Milford High School team – Milford 1 – placed first. Competing in the event were Nathan Lavine, Nicholas Pelletier, and Kyle Rysadam. They were coached by Tamara Andrew Birch.
