Parkinson's Disease Foundation to Provide Strategies for Dealing with Dementia in PD in Online Seminar on Tuesday, March 1

Available to People living with Parkinson's, Care Partners and Health Professionals

WHAT: “Dealing with Dementia in PD,” is an online PD ExpertBriefing hosted by the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF). It is designed to shed light on myths surrounding dementia in Parkinson’s disease and to provide practical tips to people living with the disease, their care partners and members of their health team. Qualifying health professionals may apply for free continuing education credits.

WHO: The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation® (PDF®) supports the scientific research and ideas that will improve the lives and futures of people who are touched by Parkinson’s disease. Since its founding in 1957, PDF has invested more than $157 million in research, education and advocacy programs. This PDF PD ExpertBriefing will be presented by Jennifer G. Goldman, M.D., M.S., Associate Professor, Section of Parkinson Disease and Movement Disorders, Department of Neurological Sciences, PDF Research Center at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Dr. Goldman is a movement disorder specialist and PDF-funded researcher who studies the cognitive aspects of Parkinson’s disease.

WHY: Estimates show that about one quarter to one third of people with Parkinson’s experience dementia, a severe decline in ability that can lead to difficulties at home, at work or in social situations. The topic can be especially worrisome for people with Parkinson’s and their care partners. PDF is hosting this seminar to provide people with Parkinson’s and their care teams with strategies for coping with the effects of dementia.
