NH Moose Poaching: $1,000 Reward Offered
New Hampshire Fish and Game said someone shot a moose at Sugarloaf Pond and left it to rot.

STRATFORD, NH -- New Hampshire Fish and Game asked the public's help finding a hunter who shot a moose and left it to rot at Sugarloaf Pond in Stratford. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information in the case. The shooting happened October 20 on the first day of moose hunting season. Fish and Game provided a photo of the dead animal, shown above.
"The individual first shot the moose in the chest and after it was wounded, approached it and delivered the final shot to the head at close range," New Hampshire Fish and Game Sgt. Glen Lucas said in statement. "The individual did not make any attempt to salvage anything from the moose, instead left the moose to rot, wasting hundreds of pounds of meat."
It's illegal in New Hampshire to shoot and moose and leave it to rot.
