Monday Essentials: Soccer Registration, Pizza and Craigslist Scams

Get ready for the week with Patch.

1. Weather Report: The week kicks off with showers before giving way to partly cloudy weather. Thunderstorms will come in on Thursday before things get mostly sunny this weekend. Expect temperatures to be in the low 80s.

2. In Case You Missed It: Patch Editor Robert Michaelson had an encounter with a scammer on the local rental listings on Craigslist. Read his story so you don't get roped in.

3. Run and register! Girls on the Run registration begins at 7 tonight. Girls on the Run councils across the United States and Canada serve girls in their local communities under the umbrella of Girls on the Run International. Their 24-lesson curriculum is designed for 3rd – 8th grade girls and combines training for a 5k run with lessons that inspire them to recognize and honor their individual strengths and talents and to celebrate their inner selves. The culminating event of the 12-week season is the opportunity for the girls to participate in a non-competitive 5K running event. Register here.

4. Get into soccer. Registrations for the MCAA Milford FC 2013 fall soccer program are still open. They are open for all of our divisions: U6, U8, U10, U12, and U14. If you need information about each of these divisions you will find it at the www.mcaa.us If you have a child that plans on trying out for the school team and you are reluctant to sign them up we encourage you to do so. If your child makes the school team and finds that doing both the school team and rec. soccer is too much we will refund your money. Please make sure to sign up soon as there is only a limited time that these registrations will be open.

5. Fun night! The Wadleigh Memorial Library will host pizza and a movie night on Wednesday, July 31 from 6-8 p.m. They will be screening a "fabulous movie this night, involving garden gnomes and Shakespeare, with maybe a bit of Elton John on the side." Along with the movie there will be pizza to help complete the experience. Registration is required.  All ages welcome.
