Verizon Wireless Users Experiencing 911 Connection Issues

UPDATE: The issue is related to technical issues with Fairpoint, according to the Nashua Telegraph.

The Milford Fire Department is reporting that Verizon Wireless customers are having issues connecting to 911.

The department sent out this message to Milford residents:

"We’ve received a report of a possible sporadic issue with Verizon Wireless users being unable to connect to 911. As we work with 911 to investigate, we will use this time to remind everyone that you should know alternate numbers to your emergency services. For residents in Milford, your alternate emergency number is 673-1414.

Please, please, please remember that 911 is your “go to “ number for all emergencies. Our state 911 center has valuable tools and services that can directly help you in an emergency allowing our local dispatch to send us (or Police or EMS) to help you. But you should also have the alternate number posted near your phone, or saved in your address book in some manner that you can use it in cases when primary services are interrupted for whatever reason."
