Victim Identified In Fatal Fire

FITZWILLIAM, NH - New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Paul J. Parisi, Fitzwilliam Fire Chief Adam Dubriske and Fitzwilliam Police Chief Lenny DiSalvo announced that the victim of the fire on Royalston Road in Fitzwilliam has been identified and the cause of death has been released by the NH Medical Examiner’s Office.

The NH Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as 68-year-old Glenn Sillanpaa of Fitzwilliam and has ruled the cause of death to be accidental due to thermal inhalation injury.

The investigation has revealed that the fire started in the basement of the home but the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.

State Fire Marshal Parisi would like to remind all citizens of the importance of having working smoke alarms in your home. In the event of a fire, immediately exit your home and call 911. Keep exits clear of debris and have a home fire escape plan.
