Bomb Squad Called When Live Hand Grenades Found At NH Estate Sale

Hollis police and fire closed Runnells Bridge Road Saturday after hand grenades were found. Nashua police bomb tech removed the items.

HOLLIS, NH — Hollis police and fire were called to a home on Runnells Bridge Road on Saturday for a report about items that were possibly live hand grenades.

When police and fire arrived around 11 a.m., they found an estate sale being held and in the garage, someone looking through items and found what looked like hand grenades that were still intact.

Hollis fire and police blocked the roadway and notified the Nashua Police Bomb Squad. Nashua police dispatched one of its bomb technicians to the scene. The technician examined the devices and determined they were still live and contained explosives.

Hollis Police Sgt. Jonathan Tate said the bomb technician removed the items from the property and they will be safely disposed of by Nashua Police.

The road was opened to traffic and all units cleared around 2 p.m.
