Boston Celtics Present Nashua Navy Officer With Hero Award
The Boston Celtics honored Nashua's Andre Daigle for his volunteer work abroad.
NASHUA, NH — Nashua native Andre Daigle was recently honored with a hero award by the Boston Celtics. Daigle, a Navy officer, was recognized in the team's "Heroes Among Us" program for his volunteer work abroad.
Daigle was presented with the award at the TD Garden during the Celtics-Miami Heat game December 30. It was the first time he was back in New England after a year overseas. He serves as a petty officer, third class.
"Growing up in Nashua, Andre dreamed of serving our country and improving communities throughout the world," his award reads. "Andre enlisted in the Navy on September 11, 2012 after graduating from Nashua North High School.

"During his three deployments, Andre spent time volunteering in the countries where he was stationed, providing critical support to locals in need. Currently aboard the Navy’s only forward deployed amphibious assault ship, Andre returns home ... for the first time in a year."
