NASHUA – Designed to help students get ahead quickly, the eight-course Data Analytics certificate at Nashua Community College has now shifted to 100 percent online.

“The program is built for being online since it is primarily computer based,” said Data Analytics student at NCC, Warren Hollinshead. “Also, remote access resembles professional environments more and more today. It seems that remote work is the new normal and I can't tell you how many online meetings I have with colleagues across the planet every week. This format is here to stay.”

Hollinshead is an analytical chemist and wants to expand his role within his current company, “I took part in the data analytics program to gain knowledge of the avenues used for organizing and understanding large sets of clinical data. My intent is to work with drug design and development in early stage pharmaceuticals.”

The certificate prioritizes flexibility for working professionals. Current students work full-time across industries, from retail and education to health science. While students may come in with experience or degrees in a related area, the certificate is accessible enough for beginners to use to prepare for an entry-level position.

Students can also pick up professional certifications along the way, as the course curriculum aligns with professional certifications in Excel and Tableau. According to Data Analytics Professor Kim Seefeld, “This really is a focus for me because I am angling the data analytics certificate as a 'job ticket' type program.”

Data Analytics student Kim Jansen enrolled in the program seeking a career that helped people, “I researched Data Analytics and found I can combine that with my love of law. This way, I can work to protect the rights of people without having to go to trial. My career goals are to work on research, fix the data breach issues, and present easy to read, transparent information to the public.”

For those interested in earning an associate degree, the coursework from the certificate can be applied to the current degree program offered at NCC in data analytics

“Invest in yourself and your future by spending your time in this program,” said Hollinshead. “You will gain more out of it than you could ever expect. The material covered in this program touch on many aspects of a professional career and allow for personal growth in any position.”
