Golfers Out In Force After New Hampshire Allows Reopening

Golfers came out to play rounds of golf in Nashua on the first day of businesses reopening under "Stay at home 2.0."

NASHUA, NH — Golfers from across New Hampshire came out in force at golf courses around New Hampshire on the first day of the reopening after nonessential businesses were ordered to close.

Monday morning brought several golfers to Nashua Country Club, which is a private club that, according to its website, has 500 members.

Golfers on the course were social distancing as the guidelines mandated, some walking and some using motorized carts. The sun was out, with a brisk wind keeping the temperature low.

The re-opening was part of “Stay at home 2.0” which gave approval to several types of businesses if they met certain criteria. The governor's order restricted golf to Granite Staters and members-only.

  1. Players must arrive or remain in their car until no more than 15 minutes prior to their tee-time, at which time they may check-in and proceed to starting tee; no gathering before or after play is permitted.
  2. Pro shops/clubhouses must remain closed, including all indoor check-in and merchandising.
  3. Remote and touch-less check-in procedures should be utilized (Internet or phone).
  4. Golf bags should be brought by the player and not handled by anyone except the player.
  5. Personal clubs must be used; no rental sets or sharing of clubs is permitted.
  6. Clubhouse may open for restroom availability but should operate at limited capacity to adhere to social distancing policies.
  7. Food and liquor service should align with the food services phased schedule.

The afternoon brought rain and thunderstorm warnings for most of New Hampshire forcing some rounds of golf to be cancelled.
