Hannaford Donates Lottery Commission To NH Veterans Org
Liberty House in Manchester received a check for $24,000 after a winning Tri-State Megabucks ticket was sold at the store in June.

MANCHESTER, NH — A supermarket in the Queen City donated its commission from a winning lottery ticket sale to a Manchester organization that helps homeless and struggling veterans. Hannaford Supermarkets sold a $2.4 million Tri-State Megabucks ticket in June and donated the commission check – $24,000 – to Liberty House. Hannaford Store Manager Lisa Lessard said it was an honor to help the organization.
"Every day," she said, "they are providing opportunities for self-sufficiency and comfort to our veterans-and that is a gift that stretches beyond those individuals, it helps strengthen our community at-large."
Charlie McIntyre, the executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery Commission, commended the store for making the donation.

"It is incredibly humbling to see one of our loyal retailers choose to do so much good in New Hampshire," he said. "We are proud and gratified to be a part of this initiative."
The organization was also grateful for the donation. Executive Director Jeff Nelson said, "This generous donation will allow us to expand opportunities for positive social experiences for our veterans, which is critically important. We cannot thank Hannaford enough."

The winner of the $2.4M Tri-State Megabucks prize has not come forward yet.
This is not the first time the store has been generous with its lottery commissions. In 2016, after selling a $487 million Powerball ticket, Hannaford donated the $75,000 commission as well as an additional $25,000 to nonprofits in Raymond fighting hunger; in 2017, $5,000 was donated to food pantries in Hampton after a store there sold a $1 million Powerball ticket.
Hannaford has locations in Bedford, Concord, Exeter, Hampton, Londonderry, Nashua, Portsmouth, and other communities around the state and New England.
