Head-On Collision Seriously Injures Two Drivers In Nashua
Update: A Nashua man, New Hampshire State Police say, was traveling the wrong way crashed into a Greenville woman seriously injuring her.
NASHUA, NH — At approximately 11:41 p.m. Wednesday reports came in for a head-on collision in the area of the Everett Turnpike Exit 8 Northbound off-ramp and Southwood Drive in Nashua.
Nashua Fire, AMR, New Hampshire State Police and Nashua police responded. Two vehicles sustained heavy damage and one driver was entrapped, and the other driver was seriously injured.
A second AMR ambulance was requested, a trauma alert was activated at Southern NH Medical Center. After evaluating the condition of one patient a medical helicopter was requested, and Boston Med-flight responded with a 19 minute arrival time.

NHSP Lt. Bryan Trask said Matthew Hicks, 37, of Nashua was driving a 2018 Audi Q7 on Southwood Drive. Witnesses reported seeing him miss the right hand turn at the intersection with the off ramp and enter into the opposite lane, heading East in the Westbound lanes from the Turnpike.
Wicks reportedly accelerated and subsequently crashed head on into a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe that was driven by; Carol Gates, 50, of Greenville. Gates was transported to Southern NH Medical Center with serious injuries. Wicks was med-flighted to Mass General Hospital in Boston with life threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigation results indicate that impairment and speed were factors in this crash.
State troopers were assisted at the scene by Nashua Police, Nashua Fire and Rescue AMR ambulance and Boston Med Flight along with NH DOT.
