High Winds Knock Out Power To Thousands in New Hampshire

Utility companies responding to outage reports throughout the state amid National Weather Service's High Wind Warning.

NASHUA, N.H. - High winds with gusts up to 55 miles per hour have knocked out power for thousands of Eversource and Unitil customers throughout New Hampshire. As of 11 a.m. there were dozens of outages for Eversource customers – with some in the Nashua and Windham areas totaling more than 400 homes each – while Unitil reported on its web site that more than 500 were without power in the Concord area and 80 in Hampton.

The National Weather Service in Concord has issued a High Wind Warning until 7 p.m. with sustained winds out of the west at 25 miles per hour and gusts up to 55 miles per hour. Winds are expected to continue to gust to 45 miles per hour tonight as temperatures plummet. The NWS forecasts wind chills near zero tonight and minus-4 tomorrow despite bright sunshine.

There were more than 29,000 power outages in Massachusetts following a line of snow squalls that passed through the state this morning.
