Hudson Chimney Fire Caused by Creosote Build-Up

Timely reminders about winter fire safety from Hudson Fire Department.

A Facebook post on Tuesday by Hudson Heat about a chimney fire call on Greenfield Drive provides some cautionary advice for others.

Hudson firefighters responded to Greenfield Drive for the report of a chimney fire and, upon arrival, found a working fire burning in the chimney from built-up creosote. Firefighters from Ladder 2 dropped chains to clear the burning creosote that was on fire.

In the accompanying photos you can also see the importance of making sure fire hydrants are dug out following heavy snowfall, which makes the essential work of firefighters a little easier.
