Medicus Employees Contribute To Housing Construction For Habitat For Humanity

Medicus employees volunteered their time to Habitat for Humanity to help build houses for two local families.

From Medicus Health Care Solutions: On Saturday, April 22, Medicus Healthcare Solutions (Medicus) employees volunteered their time to help build at Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity’s (GNHFH) 42 Chestnut Street project in Nashua. Once finished, this project will be home to two local families in need of decent affordable housing.

Rebecca Scalera, Medicus Healthcare Solutions Marketing and Communications Coordinator, organized the volunteer day through the GNHFH Team Build Day Program. The program engages local groups of volunteers from companies, schools, civic organizations and other places to build on site for a day and learn about housing needs within the Greater Nashua community.

“We are so appreciative that Habitat for Humanity gave us the opportunity to volunteer on the Nashua multi-family site build”, said Scalera. “I’m lucky to say I work for a company filled with philanthropic individuals who love to give back to the community through our Medicus Cares initiative. It meant so much to me that I got the chance to do things I never thought I would do, like help build a wall that isn’t just going to be part of a building, it’s going to be part of someone’s home. I’ve also never use a nail gun in my life, which sounds silly, but I was petrified at first. Once I got the hang of it, I didn’t want to stop. We had so much fun with the helpful build crew who guided us through the day and loved the lunch that Chipotle donated to us!”

GNHFH would also like to give many thanks to Chipotle of Nashua on Amherst Street, for donating delicious lunches for volunteers!

Habitat’s Team Build Day Program is designed to bring groups of up to 10 volunteers together for an exclusive day of building and bonding at a Habitat build site. This program funds the building of Habitat homes in the Greater Nashua area. Throughout the day, volunteers learn new skills, increase morale all while improving group communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. In addition, Habitat provides catered lunch, goodie bags which include t-shirts, digital photos of your group building on site, and promotional benefits to applicable groups. No construction skills are necessary and all tools, training, and safety equipment are provided by an experienced build crew on site. To sign up your group, please contact Ashley Selfridge, GNHFH Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator, at (603) 821-0376 orashley.selfridge@nashuahabitat.org today!
