Nashua Fire Displaces 50 Residents From Large Multi-Unit Building

Fire crews responded to the second fire at Rail Road Square within hours of battling a 3-alarm on Concord Street. Everyone escaped safely.

NASHUA, NH — Fifty people were forced out of their apartments in an overnight fire in Nashua.

Nashua Fire Rescue, police, and AMR Ambulance responded to a reported fire in a large multi-unit building at 28 Rail Road Square on Wednesday.

Firefighters from the Amherst Street station arrived minutes after the dispatch and were told there was a fire in a fourth-floor room.

Firefighters stretched hose lines, made entry to the building, and began to evacuate multiple occupants.

Crews located the fire and quickly extinguished the fire that was held to one room by sprinklers that activated.

Water flowed from the fourth floor to several floors below causing significant damage.

Power to the entire 42-unit building had to be cut due to electrical hazards from the water.

Just hours before Nashua firefighters battled a 3-alarm fire in extreme heat conditions on Concord Street.

The Nashua Emergency Management Department obtained accommodations for the occupants at local motels.

Nashua Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.

There were no injuries to any occupants or firefighters.
