Nashua Firefighters Extinguish Blaze on Lawndale Avenue

Nashua firefighters battled and extinguished a fire at a Lawndale Avenue home this morning.

NASHUA, NH - Eighteen Nashua Fire personnel responded to a building fire at 57 Lawndale Ave. on Apr. 23.

According to Nashua Fire Deputy Chief Karl P. Gerhard, Engine 2, Engine 4, Ladder 2, Deputy Chief, & Engine 5 were dispatched to the single-family, split-level home with smoke issuing from the residence.

Gerhard said in a statement, two residents and their dog had already left the building prior to the Fire Department’s arrival. He said the fire was rapidly contained and extinguished with limited damage to structure.

Fire officials said the fire was quickly located in the basement and extinguished. There were no injuries to occupants or responders.

According to fire officials, the home's occupant awoke to unusual sounds coming from the basement and investigated to find fire as smoke detectors began to sound.

The building is currently uninhabitable due to smoke damage, occupants staying locally with relatives.
