Nashua No. 57 On 'Best Places To Live In America'

NASHUA, NH — Nashua was just ranked No. 57 on a survey of the best places to live in the United States, according to Realtor.com and Money magazine. Fishers, Indiana — a suburb of Indianapolis — won first place in this year’s annual ranking, while runners up include Allen, Texas; Monterey Park, California; Franklin, Tennessee; and Olive Branch, Mississippi.

These were Nashua's vital statistics on Money's "Best Places to Live in America 2017":

• Population: 89,735
• Median home price: $242,088
• Projected job growth: 5.2 percent
• Median household income: $66,872
• Clear days per year: 199
• Average commute time: 24 minutes
• High school graduation rate: 89 percent

The survey, released Monday, included 100 communities. Nashua has made the cut the last several years. This year’s list was based on eight categories to evaluate 2,400 cities and towns with populations between 10,000 and 100,000 people. The criteria used to determine each community's quality of life included: cost of living; economy; education; housing; crime; convenience; cultural and recreational amenities; and an overall sense of pleasantness.

While this is Money’s 30th annual ranking, it is the first time the magazine has worked with realtor.com to create the list, using even more data and insights to determine the best living places.

“These are cities and towns that have a really strong community life," says realtor.com's chief economist, Danielle Hale. "When you’re buying a home, you’re not just buying the kitchen and master bathroom. You’re buying the community.”
