NASHUA, NH — The expansion of outdoor dining in the Gate City has also led to complaints by customers and businesses about disruptive and disorderly drivers.

Nashua police are stepping up their presence in the Main Street area after receiving "numerous complaints regarding disorderly vehicles that were disturbing patrons of local restaurants," said Det. Lt. Joshua Albert of the Nashua Police Department.

Patrol officers from the second shift as well as the problem-oriented policing unit will begin "conducting a series of enforcement actions to grow awareness" about city ordinances. This effort, he said, was being done "to educate motorists on their potentially disruptive behavior," Albert said.

"Officers assigned to this issue are addressing violations of the motor vehicle code as needed with the goal of enhancing the downtown experience and ensuring the safety of pedestrians in the area," Albert said. "These activities are ongoing."

Outdoor dining has been expanded to assist businesses like eateries and restaurants to survive the coronavirus pandemic due to a drop in sales and customer traffic.
