NASHUA, NH — The threat of potentially heavy rain caused Nashua to postpone Halloween trick-or-treating hours on Thursday. Trick-or-treating will now be Saturday night from 6 to 8. Nashua posted its decision late Tuesday afternoon.

New Hampshire cities and towns have been fielding questions all week about whether Halloween should be moved to a drier day in the forecast schedule. While Merrimack police issued a statement on Tuesday telling trick-or-treaters — and their parents — to "grab an umbrella" because Halloween was going on as scheduled, barring severe weather such as lightning, Nashua decided it best to move the holiday fun to avoid soaking all the costumes and snack-sized candy.
