Nashua Snowstorm: Parking Ban, Schools On Early Release

Latest Nashua weather forecast: a half-foot of snow is incoming; city officials issued a parking ban and set an early release for school.

NASHUA, NH — A parking ban was issued for Nashua and an early release was announced for schools ahead of a snowstorm. The parking ban goes into effect Tuesday at 10 p.m. and continues through Wednesday at 6 a.m. On-street parking is prohibited and violators will be towed. Free parking is available at the Elm Street and High Street garages.

Nashua schools also issued a two-hour early release for schools Tuesday. Afternoon kindergarten was canceled.

The latest forecast called for four to seven inches of snow for the city. The snow is expected to start early Tuesday around 3 p.m. and continue through Wednesday afternoon. Some sleet and icing are expected.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning Tuesday at 4 p.m. through Wednesday at 10 a.m.

"Travel could be very difficult to dangerous," NWS said in a statement. "Prepare for snow covered and slippery roads, including during the evening commute today and morning commute Wednesday."

"Tuesday

Snow, mainly after 3pm. High near 22. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Tuesday Night

Snow and sleet before midnight, then sleet, possibly mixed with freezing rain between midnight and 4am, then sleet after 4am. The sleet could be heavy at times. Temperature rising to around 30 by 4am. Northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Wednesday

Snow showers and sleet likely before 8am, then a chance of snow showers between 8am and 1pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 37. Northeast wind 5 to 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Wednesday Night

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. West wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph."
