Nashua Soldiers and Sailors Statue To Be Restored
After a lot of research, a historical Nashua statue is set to be restored this Memorial Day.

NASHUA, N.H. - After a lot of research, a historical Nashua statue is set to be restored this Memorial Day. According to the Union Leader, a sword held by one of the men depicted in the Soldiers and Sailors Monument has been missing for years.
The Soldiers and Sailors Monument was erected in 1889 for about $12,000, and is comprised of granite from Quincy, Mass.; bronze statues; and bronze plaques. Although the truth about how the sword disappeared is not yet known, there have been theories that perhaps it was stolen and pawned for its historical value.
Representatives from MakeIt Labs, a nonprofit community workspace in Nashua, agreed to assist with the restoration project.

After extensive research, Veldt was able to determine that the missing sword likely depicted an M1841 Naval Cutlass, or an old Roman-style sword. He has since created a prototype of the missing sword, and is hoping it will fit the vacant space on the monument.
