Nashua Transformational Housing Program Receives $6K From Bank
People's United Community Foundation made the donation to the Front Door Agency, to help single mothers get on a path to self-sufficiency.

NASHUA, NH — A transitional program that helps single mothers get onto a career path and to grow toward being self-sufficient has received a donation to assist in its efforts. People’s United Community Foundation, the charitable arm of People’s United Bank, recently donated $6,000 to the Front Door Agency’s Transformational Housing Program. The program assists homeless and disadvantaged young mothers and children, about 80, who live at the Norwell House and other locations around the Gate City.
The funding will provide direct support for case management, transportation, educational expenses, or furnishing and maintenance of shared living spaces, according to Maryse Wirbal, the CEO of the Front Door Agency.
“Our services are targeted to motivated young women who need a hand-up to get out of a crisis situation,” she stated. “There are many reasons why a young mother can suddenly find herself in crisis and overwhelmed. Some single mothers lack family support and others are victims of domestic violence, for example. Our program assists those who are willing to accept case management and take advantage of all the tools and resources available.”
