Not an April Fools Joke: Lowell Transit Commuters to Lose Parking
Beginning April 1 Lowell Transit Authority garages will reduce parking by 300+ spaces. A lottery will be set up for passholders.

A notice posted by the Lowell (Mass.) Regional Transit Authority explains construction plans for the crumbling Gallagher I garage, which will mean restricted parking for at least one year.
That decision will create a parking crunch, for certain, and affect New Hampshire-to-Boston commuters, without doubt, according to this story in the Nashua Telegraph.
According to the LRTA memo, uploaded here, plans are in motion to reduce inconvenience to commuters by utilizing the LRTAÂ Rourke garage and renting spaces from nearby businesses.
An update to the parking plan is expected Feb. 15.
