Route 3 Pavement Work Begins in Merrimack, Nashua

A $1 million pavement preservation project on Route 3 has begun and the work will mean some minimal traffic impact.

A $1 million pavement preservation project on Route 3 in Merrimack and Nashua has begun, and the work will mean some minimal traffic impact.

The project includes repairing and replacing guardrail and minor drainage work.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation says the project begins at Greely Street in Merrimack and proceeds south for four miles to the intersection at Henri Bourque Highway in Nashua.

The section of Route 3 had intensive pavement work in 2004, and this project will maintain the surface and extend the life of it, according to DOT. The work will be completed using lane closures and will return to normal traffic patterns prior to non-work hours.

MERRIMACK

  • Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times, according to DOT. Changeable message signs will be used to keep motorists informed.

NASHUA

  • Two-way traffic will be maintained during commuting hours. Uniformed officers, flaggers and traffic control devices will be used to slow, direct and assist motorists through work zones.

All States Asphalt, Inc., of Sunderland, Mass., is the contractor. The project is expected to be completed by Aug. 1.
