Shooter Charged in May Vernon Street Drive-By

Anthony Perkins is accused of being the shooter in a May incident in which bullets entered a home occupied by children.

Anthony Perkins, 28, of 38 Amherst St. #4, Nashua, was charged Dec. 26 with three counts of reckless conduct, class B felony, in connection with a May 25 drive-by shooting on Vernon Street. Perkins was arrested at the New Hampshire State Prison at approximately 9 a.m. 

On May 25, 2013, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Nashua Police patrol officers responded to a residence on Vernon Street for a report of shots fired. Patrol officers learned that someone drove by the residence and fired multiple rounds from a firearm into the location. It was determined that at least three shots went into the residence. There were five people inside the apartment at the time of the incident including three children; twin girls age 10 and a two year old. No one was injured. 

The investigation was furthered by Detectives in the Criminal Investigation Division and it was learned that Perkins was the shooter in the incident. On December 19, 2013, Derek Dignan, age 28, of no fixed address, was arrested in connection with this incident, as the alleged driver of the vehicle, and charged with criminal liability to reckless conduct, class B Felony.

A Class B Felony is punishable by up to seven years in the New Hampshire State Prison, exclusive of fines. Perkins was arraigned on these charges on December 27, 2013 in the 9th Circuit Court, Nashua Division and is currently being held at the NH State Prison on unrelated charges. Dignan is being held the Rockingham County House of Corrections on unrelated charges.
