'Teens & Trucks' Safety Program July 16 in Nashua
Nearly 80 percent of fatal crashes involving commercial motor vehicles in New Hampshire are the fault of drivers of passenger vehicles, according to State Police.
"Teens & Trucks," a safety outreach program designed to reduce crashes involving commercial motor vehicles, is scheduled for July 16 in Nashua.
The program targets drivers between 16 and 24. A live demonstration, including expertise from New Hampshire State Troopers, is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Driving Solutions LLC, at 28 Charron Ave., Nashua.
State Police Troop G started a program in 2012 to driver education classes statewide on safety matters with large trucks and buses. Nearly 80 percent of fatal crashes involving commercial motor vehicles in New Hampshire are the fault of drivers of passenger vehicles, according to State Police.
Troopers talk about the various safety factors to consider, including additional stopping distance needed for a truck, the importance of staying out of the truck’s blind spots, safe lane changes around trucks, and the fact that trucks make wide turns.
