UNOs Dough-Raiser Jan. 16 for Hudson Girl Fighting Cancer

Donations will help the Lowe family continue to fight for McKenzie's life.

On Thursday, January 16, UNO on Amherst St. in Nashua is hosting a fundraiser and silent auction from 11 a.m. until 1 a.m. to benefit McKenzie Lowe of Hudson, who continues to battle an inoperable brain cancer.

UNO will donate up to 20 percent of all sales from the fundraiser (including take-out and catering sales) as well as 100 percent of the proceeds from the silent auction to the “Friends of McKenzie Lowe.”

It promises to be a great event with a special performance by members of the Granite Statesmen Chorus that evening, as well as wonderful food and friends. Any support – be it financial, moral or even political – would be greatly appreciated.

On November 28, 2012, McKenzie Lowe was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Since she was diagnosed, McKenzie has seen the tumor shrink. However the tumor recently started growing again. McKenzie has just gone through another round of radiation and is in remarkable spirits! She lives in Hudson and attends Hudson Memorial Middle School.

Besides having a wonderful personality, she is also a sports fanatic and has an adventurous spirit with a love of trying all kinds of new things. McKenzie enjoys spending time with her family, friends and of course all her pets which keep multiplying! She owns a horse named Star, a cat named Cocoa, a dog named Marshmallow, a bird named Sparkle, a turtle and a hermit crab. Her most recent interest is adding a bunny to her animal family.

Time is of the essence as her family is seeking the permission of the FDA and the White House to allow McKenzie to be treated in Texas with an experimental drug that the FDA has not approved. However, the FDA has the power to approve a “compassionate use exemption.” This is a very expensive drug and the Lowe family needs help from as many people as possible to help McKenzie obtain the treatment that could save her life.
