2 Windham Seniors Get Scholarships From MVCU
Merrimack Valley Credit Union has awarded $10,000 in scholarships to local students, including two Windham seniors.
LAWRENCE, MA — Two Windham High School seniors were among nine students who were awarded scholarships from the Merrimack Valley Credit Union. The union recently awarded $10,000 total in scholarships to students in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. In Windham, seniors Ryan Marotta and Joshua Parker received $1,000 in scholarships each.
"Our annual scholarship fund is one of the ways we give back to the community," said Merrimack Valley Credit Union President and CEO John Howard. "We had to many impressive applicants this year, choosing the scholarship recipients was a difficult task. The scholarship recipients were selected because of their commitment to education and to their community, both in and out of school, and the lessons they've learned about managing their money today and in the future."
Merrimack Valley Credit Union received 178 applications from students at 24 different high schools located across the Merrimack Valley. Students were scored on academic performance, school and community involvement, work experience, letters of recommendation and their essays about the best lessons they have learned about money.

Marotta, who was among the $1,000 scholarship recipients, plans to attend Kent State University after graduating Windham High School this year. At Kent State, he plans to study aeronautics with a concentration in flight technology.
Parker, who also received a $1,000 scholarship, plans to attend University of Massachusetts in Lowell after graduating Windham High School this year. At the university, he plans to major in mechanical engineering.

Other high school students awarded $1,000 scholarships through Merrimack Valley Credit Union are Massachusetts residents Elizabeth Ezekiel of Tewksbury, Ana Gonzalez of Lawrence, Devin Goodwin of Middleton, and Katelyn Quinlan of Haverhill. Samuel Acquaviva of Newburyport, Massachusetts, also received a $2,000 scholarship.
