Motel Evacuated Hotel After Carbon Monoxide Scare

Local fire crews were called to the Manor Motel in Windham after a carbon monoxide alarm was tripped on Monday night.

WINDHAM, N.H. - Local fire crews were called to the Manor Motel in Windham after a carbon monoxide alarm was tripped on Monday night. According to the Union Leader, a mouse nest in a heat exhaust pipe caused a buildup of deadly carbon monoxide.

Nobody was hurt but half of the building was evacuated that night while the Windham Fire Department assessed the situation.

About half of the residents in the 28-unit extended-stay motel evacuated as emergency crews worked to figure out the cause of the alarm, she said. The motel was fully occupied.

The fire department found levels of 2,000 parts per million near the exterior ventilation system, and detected other elevated levels inside some of the rooms, according to a news release.
