Neighbor Spots Fire In Derry House And Evacuates Occupants
Firefighters were sent to a Gordon Road fire where occupants were possibly inside. A neighbor assisted with the evacuation.
DERRY, NH — The Derry Fire Department received a call of a reported structure fire on Gordon Road at 6:28 a.m. on Friday.
The caller reported they could see flames, and were going to attempt t evacuate the occupants.
While en route crews were notified by a police officer on the scene that there was a visible fire outside the single-family house. Derry fire arrived and requested a working fire bringing additional apparatus including tanker trucks for water supply and personnel from several surrounding towns.

Fire crews were able to verify both occupants were safely out of the house. Firefighters stretched hose lines and extinguished the fire that had extended up the side of the building near the chimney. The fire was brought under control about 15 minutes later.
It appears a fire in a woodpile possibly extended to the house, however, the fire is under investigation.

Derry fire requested the assistance of the Red Cross for the occupants of the house.
No firefighters or civilians were injured.
