Simon Announces Completion of Major Renovation at The Mall at Rockingham Park

A fresh new interior & exterior look and updated amenities enhance New England's premier tax-free shopping destination

Simon (NYSE:SPG), a global leader in retail real estate, recently announced that the renovation of The Mall at Rockingham Park is fully complete. The Salem, New Hampshire shopping center began construction in May 2014.

Our shoppers have witnessed our dramatic style evolution and can now fully enjoy our transformation and take advantage of all of our new amenities, especially as we embark on the busy fall and holiday shopping seasons,” said Cindy Hall, General Manager of The Mall at Rockingham Park. “As part of Simon’s overall strategy to reinvest in its premier properties, we are proud to be among those in New England to have recently taken measures to provide an unparalleled experience for our guests. We look forward to being the go-to place for fashion, discovery, and community for our loyal shoppers and northern New England.”

The project has brought a fresh new look to both the interior and exterior of The Mall at Rockingham Park as well as new amenities, including:

-Redesign of existing mall entrances, including automatic doors and a state-of-the-art façade, complemented by new lighting, signage and seating;

-New Dining Pavilion entrance with the addition of an elevator, glass-enclosed vestibule, better access, and upfront ADA parking;

-New dining atmosphere, including an entirely new color scheme with new lighting, new flooring, an updated layout with banquette seating and café-style soft-seating areas, decorative columns, and charging stations for shopper convenience;

-Updated feature stairs at Center Court;

-New soft seating areas with charging stations throughout;

-Renovation of the men’s, women’s, and family restrooms with the addition of a nursing room for mothers;

-Flooring upgrades, including the addition of carpeting feature areas on both levels;

-New glass railings for a more modern, sleek look;

-Energy-efficient upgrades including LED lighting; and

-A more contemporary color scheme throughout the entire shopping center.

The mall also installed electric vehicle fast-charging Freedom Station® sites this past summer that can recharge shoppers’ vehicles in 30 minutes or less while they shop or grab a bite to eat.

The Mall at Rockingham Park is home to several fashion-forward and upscale retailers, including a 124,000 square-foot Lord & Taylor that mirrors the Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York, Michael Kors, Vera Bradley, J. Crew, Coach, Banana Republic, Sephora, Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, White House | Black Market and Microsoft, to name a few.

“The Mall at Rockingham Park has always been and remains a powerful foundation of commerce for the area. This transformation will have a positive impact on area consumers as well as the business community, especially when it comes to helping to create more jobs,” said Keith Hickey, Salem Town Manager. “Simon and our planning and development organizations here in Salem have continued to work closely to see this project through, and its completion is another example of how a community working together benefits the entire region.”

Along with the renovation updates, mall guests will notice some new retail and dining options, along with existing stores that have been remodeled and relocated, such as:

-Dick’s Sporting Goods (opening October 2015)

-Torrid (opened September 2015)

-Papyrus (opened August 2015)

-Michael Kors (opened November 2014)

-Starbucks (opened November 2014)

-Champs, Gap, and Express/Express Men (newly renovated)

To continue the celebration, The Mall at Rockingham Park will also host a mall-wide Style Evolution event on Saturday, October 17th from 1:00p.m. – 4:00p.m. Shoppers of all ages can celebrate in style all day with a showcase of fall fashions, prize-an-hour giveaways, pampering for women, entertainment for teens, fun for kids, and more.
