Crews were hampered by wind, and also a large amount of brush and trees surrounding the house limiting the use of ladder trucks. Fire crews, using ground ladders, worked to put water on the heaviest fire. When the fire burnt through the roof, and firefighters removed windows additional water was used in the attic where the fire appeared to be the most intense.

Several towns and cities responded mutual aid to the fire, and remain on the scene at this time.
