Windham Dump Truck And Car Crash Requires Extrication

Fire, EMS, and police responded to Indian Rock Road for a car that was heavily damaged and two people injured. A man had to be extricated.

WINDHAM, NH — Windham fire and police responded to Indian Rock Road in the area of the Dunkin Donuts for a reported Motor Vehicle Collision involving a vehicle and a Dump Truck Monday.

Windham Asst. Chief Brady was first to arrive about 9:30 a.m. and found a passenger vehicle that had been struck by a large dump truck in the westbound lane of Route 111 where it intersects with Church Road. He requested an additional ambulance to the scene and checked the availability of air medical.

An assessment of the scene found a female passenger and a male driver still in the vehicle, and the driver would require extrication. Air medical was canceled and a Trauma Team Alert was requested at Parkland Medical Center in Derry.

A female patient was removed from the vehicle and evaluated by EMS. She was transported to Parkland Medical Center in Derry. The driver was eventually extricated and evaluated by Windham Medics. He was transported to Parkland Medical Center as well.

Injuries to both occupants appeared to be neck and back pain as a result of the collision. All injuries did not appear life-threatening. The driver of the dump truck denied any injuries and refused care and transport.

Traffic along Route 111 was reduced to one lane in the area of the accident for several minutes while Emergency Personnel worked to clear the scene.

The accident is currently under investigation by Windham Police Department.
