Windham Endowment for Community Advancement Awards

14 received scholarships in June.

WINDHAM, NH — As part of its support for education, the Windham Endowment for Community Advancement proudly administers scholarships for graduating high school seniors from the Windham community. The Windham Endowment was privileged to recognize 14 exceptional students last week. For students graduating in 2016, 14 scholarships totaling $19,500 were available. The awards and the 2016 recipients are detailed below.

  • The Windham Endowment Scholarship ($1,000) is awarded to a graduating high school student from Windham who has demonstrated significant involvement in community service in Windham or elsewhere, but particularly in activities that enhance the quality of life for all Windham residents: Cierra Cowan
  • The Jean (McCartney) & Donald Beales Scholarships (two, each for $1,000), in memory of Jean McCartney Beales, are awarded to graduating Windham High School students who are enrolled or will be enrolled in a degree or certification program: Rachel Page and David Max Souter
  • The Coish Family Scholarship ($1,000) is awarded to a graduating WHS student who has participated in one or more sports at Windham High School and has consistently set an example of teamwork and sportsmanship: Patrick Hume
  • The Radhey Shyam Khanna Memorial Scholarships (two, each for $2,500) are awarded to graduating Windham High School students who will enter a four-year degree program with the intent to pursue a career in engineering and/or computer science: Athena Chan and Benjamin Emrick
  • The Homai Khanna Memorial Scholarships (two, each for $2,500) are awarded to graduating Windham High School students who show evidence of exceptional community service: Grace Donabedian and Sarah Vignos
  • The Dr. Henry E. LaBranche Scholarship ($1,000) is awarded to a graduating WHS student who intends to pursue a career in public education and who has demonstrated character and leadership while at Windham High School. This scholarship and the collaborative effort to establish its creation honors Dr. LaBranche and his legacy to education: Richard Hume
  • The Timothy Skwiot Financial Services Scholarship ($500) is awarded to a graduating Windham High School student who has shown through course work and extra-curricular activities an interest in studying business at the college level: Andrew Merchant
  • The Windham Visual Arts Scholarship ($500) is awarded to a graduating Windham High School student who is planning to study art and who has demonstrated ability and interest in art: Nicholas DePamphilis
  • The Windham Women's Business Connection - Carol A. Yennaco Scholarship ($500), in memory of Carol Yennaco, is awarded to a female graduating high school student from Windham who has demonstrated concern for her community through her volunteerism and who has set an example of a positive, innovating spirit: Alana Haggerty
  • The Woman’s Club Scholarships (two, each for $1,500) are awarded to graduating high school students from Windham who have had a strong involvement in the community and who are pursuing college degrees: Conor Leland and Julie Sheahan

The Windham Endowment is honored to administer these scholarships on behalf of Windham businesses and families and support our students as they pursue their dreams. We are grateful to the many volunteers who work to make these awards possible.

The Windham Endowment for Community Advancement is a non-profit community foundation created to enhance the quality of life for all Windham residents, now and for generations to come. The Endowment provides a way for individuals, organizations, and corporations to channel their philanthropic giving for educational, cultural, recreational or environmental initiatives within the town.
