Windham Student Receives Award From Boston University
Jessica MacKimm received the Twiness Award from Boston University (BU) College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College.

From Boston University College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College: Jessica MacKimm of Windham, NH received the Twiness Award from Boston University (BU) College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College at the annual Senior Awards Reception on Friday, May 19, 2017. The Twiness Award is presented to graduating seniors who exemplify the ideals of service, loyalty, thoughtfulness, and excellence of scholarship.
MacKimm graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in speech, language and hearing sciences with a minor in public health on Sunday, May 21, 2017. While at BU, MacKimm was the president of the Sargent Honor Society and an intern at the BU Aphasia Resource Center. She was also a Scarlet Key member and a senior writing consultant at the College of Arts and Sciences Writing Center.
In their recommendation of MacKimm for this award, Professors Ann Dix, Karole Howland and Jerome Kaplan said, “After coming to Boston University during her sophomore year, Jessica worked as a patient advocate intern with Health Leads, a nonprofit organization that helps connect individuals experiencing financial difficulties with appropriate community health resources. Through her experiences with Health Leads, Jessica saw the opportunity to use her education to help reduce the impacts of racism and discrimination on people’s ability to access health care.”

MacKimm will continue her education in the Master of Science in speech, language and learning program at Northwestern University.
