2 NJ Pizza Spots Among Best In U.S., International Website Says

An Italian website that ranks pizza worldwide placed two New Jersey restaurants in the top five portion of its list.

NEW JERSEY — New Jersey pizzerias have once again proven themselves as the go-to spots for delicious pizza. Two New Jersey pizzerias have taken the top spot on a website ranking pizzas — but this time, an Italian website highlighted the eateries.

Razza in Jersey City made it on the top five pizzas in the U.S. for the website 50TopPizza, an Italian site that ranks pizzas worldwide. Razza was listed at number 5.

"Two minutes away from the Grove Street station (Path system), you will find one of the best pizzas around," 50TopPizza said. "Dan Richer is an excellent baker, a true artisan. The pizza has a crunchy crust that feels very satisfying to the bite. The raw materials used are very fresh and of excellent quality."

Razza is no stranger to praise — in April it was one of two Jersey City restaurants named by Food & Wine Magazine on the list of the best pizza places in the Garden State.

Razza is at 275 Grove Street and each pizza is made with fresh and often local ingredients. The menu includes classics like Margherita pizza and twists like Jersey Margherita which is made with all Garden State ingredients. Razza is open for take-out only.

Also in the top 5 list was Una Pizza Napoletana in Atlantic Highlands.

“Anthony Mangieri is certainly one of the most important protagonists of Neapolitan-style pizza in the USA,” 50TopPizza said in its ranking. “The pronounced crust is very reminiscent of that of the ‘canotto’ (resembling the inflatable boat), the dough is perfectly leavened and bubbly, and very fragrant. The raw materials used come from Italy, which include a nice selection of tomatoes.”

Una Pizza Napoletana was listed at number 2.
