NJ's Best Public High Schools: New Rankings Released

Bergen County Academies in Hackensack is New Jersey’s best public high school for 2019, according to a new set of rankings released days ago by data compiler Niche.

High Technology High School (Lincroft), Union County Magnet High School (Scotch Plains), OCVTS - Marine Academy of Technology & Environmental Science (Manahawkin), and Dr. Ronald E. McNair Academic High School (Jersey City) closed out the top five spots in the state. (See full list below.)

The list of the best public high schools was released as part of Niche’s 2019 K-12 rankings. Niche also released an analysis of the state's best school districts. You can see that here.

To arrive at the rankings, Niche said it looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the rankings and the methodology here.)

According to Niche's rankings, the best public high school in the country is Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in Aurora, Illinois.
