Severe Storms, Possible Tornado In NJ Forecast

Severe storms, which could include damaging winds, flash flooding and even a tornado, are expected in New Jersey on Thursday.

"Several rounds of showers and a few t-storms will continue to impact the region through tonight," according to the US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly. "Some isolated severe t-storms and flash flooding are possible this evening. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out."

The day will remain foggy for most of the morning before turning to rain. The most severe storm impacts are expected between 3 and 10 p.m.

Most areas are expected to receive about 0.5 to 1 inch of rain through Thursday night, however, localized amounts closer to 2 to 3 inches are possible.

North Jersey

Saturday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers after 8 p.m. Cloudy, with a low around 64.

Sunday: A 30 percent chance of showers before 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76.

Central Jersey

Thursday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 5 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m. Patchy fog before 1 p.m. High near 78. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Friday: Patchy fog between 7 and 8 a.m. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 82. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.
