Severe Storms, Possible Tornado In NJ Forecast

"A brief tornado cannot be ruled out," said the National Weather Service on Thursday.

Severe storms, which could include damaging winds, flash flooding and even a tornado, are expected in New Jersey on Thursday.

"Several rounds of showers and a few t-storms will continue to impact the region through tonight," according to the US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly. "Some isolated severe t-storms and flash flooding are possible this evening. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out."

The day will remain foggy for most of the morning before turning to rain. The most severe storm impacts are expected between 3 and 10 p.m.

Most areas are expected to receive about 0.5 to 1 inch of rain through Thursday night, however, localized amounts closer to 2 to 3 inches are possible.

North Jersey

Sunday: A 30 percent chance of showers before 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76.

Central Jersey

Friday: Patchy fog between 7 and 8 a.m. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 82. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.
