SOUTH JERSEY – More details were revealed Thursday after a woman and two children were found dead at a New Jersey home, and a man's body was also found in the woods nearby.

A preliminary report from the medical examiner indicates that Eugenio Severino died after he hung himself in Penns Grove, according to the Salem County Prosecutor's Office.

Ruth Reyes Severino and her two children, Eurianny Severino and Eurl Severino, were stabbed to the death at a nearby home, according to prosecutors.

The woman was also identified by NJ Advance Media as a 30-year-old mother to her 5-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son. Eugenio Severino, who was found in the wooded area, was Reyes’ 54-year-old husband, according to the report.

Police, neighbors and family told NJ Advance Media that Severino had threatened to kill his wife, and she subsequently kicked him out of their apartment. She later went to court and obtained a restraining order.

The new information was revealed a day after the four bodies, including the two children, were discovered Wednesday morning in the home and nearby woods in Penns Grove, prosecutors said.

The discovery was made after a passerby spotted what appeared to be a body in the woods, located off Sportsman Road in Carneys Point, and then called 911, the prosecutor’s office said.

Police who responded to the scene checked the victim's address and made a well-being check at his nearby home, prosecutors said. Police then found the woman and two small children dead in the home.

The matter is under investigation by the Carneys Point Police Department, the Penns Grove Police Department, the Salem County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey State Police.
