ASBURY PARK, NJ – The city of Asbury Park installed 12 floating wetland islands last week with the help of volunteers along with the Deal Lake Commission and aquatic engineers from Princeton Hydro.

These floating wetlands islands, six of which were placed in Wesley Lake and six in Sunset Lake, improve the water quality of stormwater runoff and manage watershed nutrients and treatment of wastewater and other industrial contaminants through natural processes.

The Deal Lake Commission acquired the 12 floating islands through a Clean Water Act Section 319(h) grant awarded by the Environmental Protection Agency.
