Asbury Park 2018 Residential, Work Parking Permits Available

Asbury Park 2018 residential parking permits cost $90 for one and are available online or in person at parking utility on Springwood Avenue.

ASBURY PARK, NJ - City residential parking permits now are available at the online parking portal. Visit https://www.theparkingportal.com. The permits also may be obtained in person from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the city's parking utility office at 1201 Springwood Ave. Applications are available online or at the office.

If residents provide the required documentation, the permits are generally issued immediately.

Residential parking permits are limited to residents who can demonstrate a lack of access to available off-street parking, subject to city verification. Access to off-street parking is the ability to purchase, rent or otherwise use at least one parking space associated with a specific dwelling or when the dwelling has a driveway, garage or otherwise available space. If more than one driver is associated with a specific dwelling, the additional drivers are entitiled to a permit. In zones 1,2 and 3, no more than four permits can be associated with each dwelling. In zone 4, only two permits will be issued for each unit. If you are unsure of your zone, check the parking map online.

Proof of residency is required and consists of a deed or rental agreement with an Asbury Park address and the name of the person seeking the permit; a current driver's license with an Asbury Park address; a utility bill issued in the last 90 days, a current tax bill, a statement from a checking or savings account that is 60 days or less or first-class mail from a local, state or government agency that is no older than 90 days.

If the applicant lacks a deed or rental agreement, he or she will require two of the above proofs.

The first permit costs $90 and has an increasing scale until it reaches $180 for four permits.

The cost is $75 for each month for the Bangs Avenue Garage, with three months' minimum required and renewals required five days before expiration. All permits expire Dec. 31, 2018.

Guest passes are not available but discounted bulk parking is available using the Asbury PARK mobile parking app at http://www.asburyparkapp.com.

Employee or work parking passes also are available at the same portal and office. Employee parking permits are limited to business owners and employees in places that are within paid parking areas or permit-regulated areas. Employee permits only are available to Asbury Park merchants and their employees. Seasonal or temporary employees are eligible as well for employee parking permits. Any circumstance where employment may be difficult to prove may be evaluated by the parking utility on a case-by-case basis.

Employment parking proofs include a copy of the Asbury Park mercantile license or state or federal tax forms with an Asbury Park address for business owners or two current pay statements from an Asbury Park employer or a notarized statement from the Asbury Park employer.

For vehicle registration, applicants must provide a valid vehicle registration card. Company cars and leased
vehicles are eligible to obtain a permit. The employee permit application has more details.
