Asbury Park Beach Badges Went On Sale On Thursday
The city does not anticipate limiting the number of season beach badges sold during the 2021 season.

ASBURY PARK – Asbury Park beach badges went on sale on Thursday.
There is no limit on season badges this year - you didn't need to purchase them on Thursday.
Season Badges can be purchased daily throughout the season through the Viply app and at the Beach Office. If you see a "sold out" message on Viply, please try again later.

The app is releasing passes in batches to manage high demand on the app.
They also went on sale in-person at the Beach Office (First Avenue on the Boardwalk) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Season beach badge sales will continue through the 2021 Beach Season. Daily beach passes will be available for sale starting Memorial Day Weekend.

While the 2020 Beach Season was unprecedented, and the city was required by the state to limit capacity in support of social distancing, the city was still able to sell over 9,000 season beach badges last summer—an all-time record for badge sales.
The city does not anticipate limiting the number of season beach badges sold during the 2021 season.
Beach passes (badges or wristbands) will be required to access Asbury Park Beaches from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend as follows:
- Starting Saturday, 5/29/21 at 9 a.m. through Sunday, 6/13/21, Weekends and Holidays Only
- Starting Monday, 6/14/21 through Monday, 9/6/21, Every Day (Weekdays, Weekends, Holidays)
Beach passes will not be required to access the beach starting Tuesday, 9/7/21. Based on weather and staffing availability, lifeguards may still be on duty after Labor Day Weekend.
2021 Beach Pass Rates & Information
Daily Rates
- Monday to Friday: $6
- Weekends and Holidays: $9
Seasonal Rates
- Adults: $70
- Seniors (62-plus with valid ID): $20
- Teens (13 to 17): $20
- Kids 12 and under: Free (adult supervision required)
- Active Military Personnel and their dependents: Free
- Retired, Disabled and Non-Active Veterans: Free
To Purchase Season Beach Badges
- Viply mobile app season beach badge sales began Thursday, 4/15/2021 at 10 a.m.
- 2021 Season Beach Badges were available for purchase through the Viply mobile app beginning Thursday, 4/15/21 at 10 a.m. Sales will continue through the 2021 season.
- Limit four (4) season beach badges per app user.
- To redeem purchases for a physical badge, scan in your Viply mobile app at the Beach Office starting 5/1/21. Detailed instructions will be emailed to purchasers.
- Senior and teen season beach badges can be purchased through the Viply app at a discounted rate. ID showing proof of age must be presented at pick up. Please note, teen season beach badges can be purchased without ID but will be checked upon entry to the beach.
- Download the Viply mobile app (www.viplypass.com), available on iPhone and Android.
- In-Person season beach badge sales at Beach Office: Starting Thursday, 4/15/21 at 10 a.m.
- Starting Thursday, 4/15/21 at 10 a.m., 2021 Season Beach Badges were available for purchase in-person at the Beach Office located on First Avenue on the Boardwalk. Sales will continue through the 2021 season.
- Beach Office Hours – April 15 through June 13: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily
- Beach Office Hours – June 14 through Labor Day: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
- Sales must be made credit card only. No cash transactions.
- Limit four (4) season beach badges per person.
- Senior and teen season beach badges can be purchased at a discounted rate. ID showing proof of age must be presented at time of transaction. Please note, teen season beach badges can be purchased without ID but will be checked upon entry to the beach.
Beach Passes for Active Military Personnel and Veterans
- Active Military Personnel and their dependents will be admitted free of charge
- Retired, Disabled and Non-Active Veterans will be admitted free of charge
- Active Military Personnel and Veterans must present a Uniformed Services ID Card or an Award Letter from the Department of Veteran Affairs at the Beach Office located at 1st Avenue and the Boardwalk, or at the 3rd Avenue or 7th Avenue Ticket Booths on the Boardwalk in exchange for free daily passes.
Beach Lockers
- 2021 Beach Locker rental renewals began on 3/15/21. Current renters will be notified by email at that time. All renewal agreements and payments will be done online this year.
- The Beach locker wait list is currently at capacity and no additional applications will be accepted at this time.
Dogs
From May 16 to September 14
Dogs in Asbury Park can enjoy the Eighth Avenue Dog Beach during specified hours:
- Dogs that are licensed and supervised are allowed on the Eighth Avenue Dog Beach from May 16 to September 14 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. only. Dogs must be off the beach by 8:30 a.m. Dogs may be off-leash on the Eighth Avenue Dog Beach if properly supervised. Dogs that become aggressive or uncontrollable must be immediately leashed and removed from the area. Dog handlers must always and immediately clean up after their dogs.
- Dogs are not permitted on beaches other than the Eighth Avenue Dog Beach.
- Dogs are not permitted on the Boardwalk from May 16 to September 14.
From September 15 through May 15: Dogs in Asbury Park can enjoy the boardwalk and Eight Avenue Dog Beach:
- Dogs that are licensed, supervised, and leashed are welcome on the Boardwalk at all times from September 15 to May 15. Dogs must be leashed at all times while on the boardwalk.
- Dogs that are licensed and supervised are allowed on the Eighth Avenue Dog Beach at all times from September 15 to May 15. Dogs may be off leash on the Eight Avenue Dog Beach if properly supervised. Dogs that become aggressive or uncontrollable must be immediately leashed and removed from the area. Dog handlers must always and immediately clean up after their dogs.
- Dogs are not permitted on beaches other than the Eighth Avenue Dog Beach.
Please Remember:
- All dogs must wear collars with valid dog licenses.
- All dogs must be on a leash (unless in the designated off-leash area on the Eight Avenue Beach).
- Dog handlers must remain with their dogs and supervise their dogs at all times.
- Dog handlers must always and immediately clean up after their dogs.
- Dog handlers are strictly liable for any incidents that occur involving their dogs.
Wheels
- Bicycles are not allowed on the boardwalk from 10 a.m. to Midnight (midnight) (Ordinance 5-4.9)
- Skates, rollerblades, skateboards, and scooters (except handicap vehicles) are prohibited on the boardwalk.
Surfing
The area between the jetties on Deal Lake Drive and Eighth Avenue is a closed-to-the-public, surfing-only beach:
- Starting Saturday, 5/29/21 at 9am through Sunday, 6/13/21, Weekends and Holidays Only
- Starting Monday, 6/14/21 through Monday, 9/6/21, Every Day (Weekdays, Weekends, Holidays)
Fishing
- Park Fishing Club, the country’s oldest saltwater fishing club. Before you start reeling in the big catches, you are required to register with the New Jersey Saltwater Registry.
- Fishing is prohibited near bathing areas.
