Asbury Park Chaplain Arrested For Child Luring: Prosecutor

A 64-year-old chaplain from Asbury Park has been arrested for luring and endangering the welfare of a child, prosecutors said.

ASBURY PARK – A 64-year-old chaplain from Asbury Park has been arrested for luring and endangering the welfare of a child, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced this past week.

On November 6th, Edgar Finol-Carrillo approached a minor and gave her a letter attempting to lure her to his residence to engage in sexual activity, prosecutors said. Shortly after receiving this letter, the Asbury Park Police Department was contacted and quickly apprehended the suspect.

Finol-Carrillo was being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI) in Freehold Township pending a detention hearing scheduled for Nov. 12th before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Paul X. Escandon.

The investigation was the product of a joint investigation by members of the Asbury Park Police Department and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
